Oasis now delivers an alcohol intervention service for offenders

Open Door OASIS was recently successful in its tender to deliver an alcohol intervention for offenders across Essex on behalf of Essex Probation.  The MARI  (Medium Alcohol Requirement Intervention) programme is  aimed at those offenders whose alcohol use is in the increasing to high range with a medium risk of re-offending.  Through the programme participants are encouraged to consider the impact of alcohol on the body, their self esteem, the link between alcohol use and offending and the impact on others. Kim Synclair, Open Door Director of Substance Misuse Services, said ‘This is really exciting for OASIS, and is our first step outside of Thurrock delivering drugs and alcohol services.  We have always worked very closely with our Essex partners, and the good work we do has been recognised through the award of this commission.  This is a 29 month contract , and we will be working very hard to ensure service users gain a better understanding of their alcohol use and reduce re-offending.’
